Adding that touch of Elegance

Prestons Diamonds

At Newman & Bright, we take great pride in crafting furniture that complements and enhances the character of the spaces they grace. Recently, we had the distinct pleasure of working with Prestons Diamonds, a luxury family jeweller with a rich history dating back to 1869. Based near Manchester, Prestons is renowned as the local Rolex and Patek Philippe distributor, attracting discerning clientele from far and wide.

When Prestons approached us to furnish their glamorous Art Deco-style showroom on the high street in Wilmslow, Cheshire, we were thrilled to be involved to their vision. The task was to create a reception area that reflected their heritage, sophistication, and attention to detail — values that align well with our own.

A Bespoke Touch with the Art Deco Chesterfield

For the Wilmslow showroom, Prestons selected our Charleston model, a design incorporating the classic lines of the Chesterfield with Art Deco themes. To ensure every detail met their exacting standards, we collaborated with Sunbury Design, sourcing a bespoke fabric that met both their commercial and ascetic requirements..

The project required 17 custom-made units, including a mix of sofas, chairs, and pouffes. Each piece was carefully tailored to harmonise with the decor of Prestons’ reception space. The result? A welcoming and opulent setting where clients can relax and enjoy a truly elevated shopping experience. Prestons’ team was delighted with the finished look, a seamless blend of functionality and glamour.

Expansion and Future Collaborations

The success of the Wilmslow showroom led to further opportunities to work with Prestons. They have since re-ordered the same Art Deco Charleston pieces for their new extension and turned to us for a more traditional style to kit out their newly opened showroom in Guildford. For this space, Prestons opted for our Balmoral Chesterfield, one of the variant models of an iconic British design.

A Shared Commitment to Excellence

Working with a prestigious name like Prestons Diamonds is both an honour and a testament to the quality and craftsmanship that define Newman & Bright. Just as Prestons has built a legacy of excellence over more than 150 years, we’re proud to contribute to their continued success with furniture that enhances the luxury experience their customers expect.

Whether it’s an Art Deco-inspired showroom or a space steeped in classic style, Newman & Bright is committed to creating pieces that leave a lasting impression. We look forward to many more collaborations with Prestons and other discerning clients.

There are five beautiful bar stools at our house in henley. Not only are they beautiful but they are also comfortable and they look fabulous!! Thank you – thank you – thank you and the ts queen mary ship’s wheel table is gracing the kitchen!

Queen Mary Helm Wheel Table

The TS Queen Mary, now completely renovated is one of the iconic ships of the Cunard line used in its hey day by such illustrious passengers as Queen Elizabeth II and Eleanor Roosevelt.

We were approached by one of the trustees of the ship with an unusual request – to take the aft ship’s wheel, renovate it, and incorporate it as a table with a set of period appropriate chairs.

This is not something we had attempted before and was outside our more usual upholstery work. However in line with the bespoke nature of our business, we felt that given the prestigious nature of the project we could self adapt to produce something we trusted the client would be happy with.

It took us a few months to complete with a lot of to-ing & fro-ing but as a reward for the time and effort spent, received unprecedented accolades for the work we had done.

This was a one-off project and we didn’t expect to do any more work of this nature from the client. It though gave us enough satisfaction to produce something that added a tiny bit of history to our own.
